Safaris states, "In Uganda you will discover a diverse, modern, yet
ancient land. A safari in Uganda encompasses more than just game
viewing. Uganda is a land not only of magnificent wildlife but of
amazing landscapes, beautiful lakes, a tropical coastline, strong
ethnic traditions, hospitality and artistry. "Jambo Karibu,"
soft, warm voices greet you in Swahili everywhere in this friendly
country. The distinct regions in Uganda vary in geographical
configuration, habitats and unique species. Your Uganda Experience
will definitely leave you with a lasting impression and tempt you to
return again.
Uganda boasts one of the world's most beautiful natural
waterfalls, Murchison Falls, also known as Kabalega Falls,
on the Nile. It breaks the Victoria Nile, which flows across
northern Uganda from Lake Victoria to Lake Kyoga and then to the
north end of Lake Albert in the western branch of the East African
Rift. At the top of Murchison Falls, the Nile forces its way through
a 7 meter gap in the rocks and tumbles 40 meters down. The river
drops 122 m (400 ft) in three separate cascades and flows westward
into Lake Albert. Murchison Falls is rather unique in that the
outlet of Lake Victoria sends around 300 cubic metres per second
(11,000 ft³/s) of water over the falls, where a portion of the river
is squeezed into a gorge less than 10 metres (30 ft) wide, and the
rest thunders over a wide escarpment.
The Falls lie within the Murchison
Falls National Park.
